February is the time of the year for us to spread the love. For others, it's opportune time to send mushy and corny text messages. But do you know this is also the most popular texting holiday of the year?

According to AT&T, Valentine's Day has recorded a 33% spike in SMS traffic last year to beat other popular holidays - Thanksgiving Day (21%), Christmas (30%) and the New Year's holiday (26%).

And in case you're in the mood for love and enjoy shorthand messages, here are some of the mushiest ones (warning: this may turn off some women or even men so use it carefully):
  • 2G2BT [Too good to be true]
  • 4EAE [Forever and ever]
  • AML [All my love]
  • FTBOMH [From the bottom of my heart]
  • GNSD [Good night, sweet dreams]
  • H2CUS [Hope to see you soon]
  • ILU [I love you]
  • IMU [I miss you]
  • ISLY [I still love you]
  • IWALU [I will always love you]
  • KOTC [Kiss on the cheek]
  • KOTL [Kiss on the lips]
  • MUSM [Miss you so much]
  • QT [Cutie]
  • TY [Thank you]
  • TOY [Thinking of you]
  • URH [You are hot]
  • UW [You're welcome]
  • XOXOXO [Hugs & Kisses]

GSMA Forms Alliance to Curb Child Pornography on Mobile Web

Let's hope this is not a mere lip service from profit-driven mobile operators. The GSM Association has created a Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual Abuse Content to prevent anyone from bombarding our mobile phones with malicious child sexual abuse contents.

According to its press release, members of the Alliance will, among other measures, implement technical mechanisms to prevent access to Web sites identified by an appropriate agency as hosting child sexual abuse content.

Included in the alliance are Hutchison 3G Europe, mobilkom austria, Orange FT Group, Telecom Italia, Telefonica/02, Telenor Group, TeliaSonera, T-Mobile Group, Vodafone Group and dotMobi.

Unfortunately, initiatives like this alliance are usually good on paper but its implementation futile. Then again, pray that I'm wrong about this one.
