Texas Instruments announced its NaviLink 6.0 (NL5500) solution, a single chip solution that combines assisted global positioning satellite (A-GPS), Bluetooth 2.1 and ultra FM receive/transmit capabilities.

XM and QuickPlay Announce XM Radio Mobile Service for BlackBerry Smartphones

XM and QuickPlay Media today announced that XM Radio Mobile will be available on select BlackBerry smartphones. The service, which can run across major U.S. mobile service providers’ networks, enables consumers to get 20 exclusive XM channels of commercial-free music and 24-hour comedy programming for $7.99 per month with an option for a complimentary 24-hour trial.

Rumor: Sony Ericsson Paris P5?

The Unofficialy Sony Ericsson Blog claimed to have obtained a product video of an unannounced Sony Ericsson P5 phone. The Sony Ericsson P5 is a slider phone featuring touch screen, UIQ 3.3, 5 megapixel camera and slider keyboard. With a code name “Paris”, it might comes with a keyboard like Sony Ericsson P1i.

Nokia Quietly Launches N-gage 2.0 A Few Days Early

Sprint Launches Sanyo Pro-200 and Pro-700

Sprint has announced that it will soon offer the Sanyo Pro-200 and Pro-700 clamshell handsets, both sporting support for Sprint's CDMA-based QChat Direct Connect service. The Pro-700 is a ruggedized handset, while the Pro-200 is a more stylish handset.

This week at CTIA, Seattle based Ontela, Inc. was awarded first place for their PicDeck technology in CTIA Emerging Technologies (E-Tech) Awards in the Mobile Entertainment and/or Social Networking category. Second place was awarded to Nokia, and third place to Yahoo!. The E-Tech Awards program gives industry recognition and acknowledges the best wireless products and services.

Amazon today introduces TextBuyIt, a new service that lets you use text messages to find and buy products sold on Amazon.com. Simply send a text message to “AMAZON” (262966) with the name of the product, search term or a UPC or ISBN code, and Amazon replies with the product or products that match the search, along with prices. To buy an item, customers simply reply to the text message by entering the unique single digit number next to the item they want. Customers will then receive a short phone call from Amazon with the final details of their order and asking them to confirm or cancel the purchase.When customers choose to purchase something for the first time using TextBuyIt, they will be asked for their e-mail address and shipping ZIP code they use for their Amazon.com account. With this information, Amazon uses customers’ default settings for payment method, shipping address and shipping speed, including 2-Day shipping for Amazon Prime members.

RIM Doubles Revenue in 2007, Adds 2.18M Subscribers in Q4

Research In Motion, the Canada-based company responsible for BlackBerry handsets, has released its Q4 2007 and year-end financial numbers. RIM's fiscal year is different from the calendar year, but the company was able to add 2.18 million new users in Q4, and nearly doubled its annual revenue in 2007.
