vtap Streams Video to Sony Ericsson Phones

The vtap service by Veveo today launches a new video services for Sony Ericsson mobile phone users. Through Sony Ericsson’s video enabled handsets and web portal, customers will be able to watch over 150 million web videos via vtap. vtap allows users to quickly and easily search, view and collect relevant and high quality web videos from anywhere on the Internet, including popular sites like YouTube, DailyMotion, and MySpace, using their existing data services.

vtap’s incremental search allows users to begin receiving search results instantly, the moment they type the first character. The results are then refined as more characters are entered, allowing users to quickly find what they want without entering full keywords or phrases from constrained keypads.

vtap has been optimised for Sony Ericsson’s multimedia handsets. The service is available immediately for Sony Ericsson Java Platform 8 (JP8) enabled handsets models: Z770i, K850i, W910i, K660i, W890i, Z750i and Sony Ericsson’s JP7 models: W880i, K810i, T650i, K530i, W580i, K770i, W660i. The service will support English, French, Italian, German and Spanish languages.

AT&T Launches the GPS-Enabled Blackberry Pearl 8110 Smartphone

AT&T and Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the launch of the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone, which includes built-in global positioning system (GPS) support for location-based applications and services. Combined with navigation and mapping applications such as AT&T Navigator, the handset provides turn-by-turn voice and on-screen directions. AT&T Navigator also alerts users through voice and on-screen prompts to traffic slowdowns and incidents along their programmed travel route, and it provides customers with the option to choose an alternative route.

The small and stylish BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone from AT&T measures just 4.2 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.5 inches, weighs approximately 3.2 ounces and is available in a glossy titanium or rich red finish. It features the popular BlackBerry e-mail and messaging capabilities, including RIM’s SureType QWERTY keyboard. The smartphone features a display that supports more than 65,000 colors and automatically adjusts brightness based on surrounding light levels.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 also includes a 2-megapixel camera that supports video recording,1 a 3.5-mm stereo headset jack, externally accessible microSD/SDHC memory slot for additional storage, high speed USB and Bluetooth 2.0 with support for headsets, car kits, stereo headsets and other Bluetooth accessories.

The new BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone from AT&T is available now at AT&T retail stores nationwide for as low as $149.99, with a two-year contract, unlimited data plan and $39.99 voice plan.

AT&T and Research In Motion (RIM) today launched the BlackBerry Pearl 8110, the newest smartphone to include built-in GPS for location-based applications and services.

Combining AT&T Navigator mapping applications, the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 provides turn-by-turn voice and on-screen directions with colorful 3D moving maps. It also alerts users through voice and on-screen prompts to traffic slowdowns and incidents along their travel route, and provides alternative paths.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 features a display that supports 65K-colors and automatically adjusts brightness based on surrounding light levels. It also features multimedia capabilities such as a media player for users who want access to music and videos. It includes a 2.0-megapixel camera that supports video recording, a 3.5-mm stereo headset jack, externally accessible microSD/SDHC memory slot for additional storage, high-speed USB and Bluetooth 2.0 with support for headsets, car kits, stereo headsets and other Bluetooth accessories.

Measuring 4.2 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.5 inches, the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 weighs approximately 3.2 ounces and is available in a glossy titanium or rich red finish. It features BlackBerry email and messaging capabilities, including RIM's SureType QWERTY keyboard system for easy typing and phone dialing - enhanced with word completion and a spell-checker with a user-customized dictionary.

Nokia N82 wins TIPA “Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe” Award 2008

The Nokia N82 has been awarded the ‘Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2008′ by TIPA (Technical Image Press Association). Taking advantage of its integrated A-GPS functionality and high resolution camera, the Nokia N82 automatically geotags images with capture location metadata, making it possible to view the capture location on a map either on the Internet or on the device itself. When it comes to sharing, people can upload their pictures or videos directly from their Nokia N82 to services like Share on Ovi, Flickr or YouTube.

“The Nokia N82 is a compact multimedia computer that integrates GPS, web, video and music functions around a 5 Megapixel camera with a high-speed, f/2.8 autofocus lens,” the TIPA jurors said. “This Carl Zeiss Tessar focuses from 10cm to infinity and produces sharp prints up to and beyond A4 size. Several scene modes are also available to optimize the Nokia N82 for great images, whether shooting portraits or night shots,” TIPA continued. Other Nokia N82 features highlighted by the jurors are the Xenon flash and 20X digital zoom.

The features of the Nokia N82 include:

  • 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash
  • Geotagging
  • Wireless LAN connectivity and HSDPA offering high download speeds
  • Integrated A-GPS and access to maps for more than 150 countries

In March, Nokia releases the Nokia N82 in black skin design.
