It looks like the geniuses in xda-developers can do magics on any HTC manufactured smartphones. With the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 introduced to the market now, one of the member has released his work on porting the TouchFLO 3D user interface to Xperia X1.
What’s good is the TouchFLO 3D for Xperia X1 is not completely replaced the X1’s pre-installed panel, you can either use the TouchFLO 3D, or the default X1 user interface depends on your preferences. The TouchFLO 3D might have some bugs in its initial releases, but expect to see a better version soon. You know you’re doing something right when manufacturers are lining up to make games for your new platform. In anticipation of the new G1 phone (from
T-Mobile) and
Google’s open-ended Android operating System,
Electronic Arts, makers of such industry staples as the Madden football franchise, has unveiled a line of game titles tailored for Google phones.
Among the titles being developed are puzzle classics Tetris and Bejeweled followed by video Monopoly. Many developers have expressed interest in creating titles for the Android software due to its tilt recognition abilities.
T-Mobile began selling the G1 smartphone last week while the latest buzz says that
Motorola is believed to be rolling out Android-based handsets of its own.

Yesterday Sprint changed its position on the future of the iDEN network that it inherited from Nextel. Sprint will no longer seek to sell it off.

According to Webmonkey, Google has created an experimental feature to enable sms chat between your friends’ mobile number and you. The feature will be available for all Gmail users from Thursday evening according to the source. It can be activated through the Labs tab in Gmail settings section. I still can’t find the options in my Gmail account, it could be due to the reason that only US users are supported.
With this feature you can send sms to your friends, plus your friends can reply to you directly and you will see it in your Gmail account.

RBC, Visa and Rogers Wireless have come together for the next phase of the mobile phone payment pilot, which will allow Canadians the flexibility to make purchases securely at the point of sale with a wave of their mobile phone. The customer phase of the mobile phone payment pilot is expected to launch in mid-2009, following a brief employee pilot. Pilot participants will be issued specially-equipped mobile phones that can simply be waved at Visa payWave-enabled checkout readers at select retail stores and quick-service restaurants in Toronto’s downtown core.
As part of the pilot, Motorola mobile phones outfitted with Near Field Communication (NFC) contactless chips will enable customers to make purchases using the Visa payWave feature just as they would with a contactless RBC Visa card. The functions tested in the pilot will include the secure delivery and storage of account information to the mobile phone and the security of mobile payments at retailers.
The pilot will be the first in Canada to test secure over-the-air (OTA) delivery of mobile payment software and credit card information to a customer’s mobile phone. Gemalto, who currently produce RBC Visa chip cards, will manage the transfer of credit card information from RBC to the secure SIM card in the Rogers Wireless NFC-enabled mobile phone.
Supported by Visa’s mobile payment platform, pilot activities will allow RBC, Rogers and Visa to better understand customer behaviours and their perceptions of the payment experience before the service is provided to consumers.
