While most of the T-Mobile G1 users have got notified on the new Android firmware update (version RC29) on their G1, some users have not receive the OTA update notification and choose to upgrade the firmware manually through a method discovered on xda-developers forum.

Note that it is not entirely guarantee that your T-Mobile G1 will be safe from the manual firmware update, some users have also reported failed update until they change to a new microSD card from the stock 1GB microSD card.
What you need to do is first download the file here, rename the file to “update.zip” and put it to the root of your microSD card. Turn off your T-Mobile G1 and hold the home key when you turn it back on. Till you see a triangle with an exclamation mark on the screen, open your G1 keyboard and press ALT+L to get a menu. You can now press ALT+S to start the firmware update. When it says upgrade complete you can follow the instruction to restart your phone.
Make sure you go through the thread here before you do the upgrade.

A surge in early adoption of the new G1 mobile handset — the first to incorporate Google Android mobile computing platform - indicates Apple’s iPhone may have another challenger for the title of hip mobile device, according to WebTrends.

During the first few days of availability, leading digital businesses such as Telegraph Media Group (TMG), publishers of the UK’s biggest selling quality daily newspaper The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and Telegraph.co.uk, have received significant traffic from the G1 handset from T-mobile. To date, a new Google Android application available at Telegraph.co.uk/mobile has generated more than 5,000 downloads and nearly 31,000 visits.
“Part of Android’s cachet is its encouragement of third-party development due to the openness of its platform. As a result, many businesses are already creating applications to increase brand awareness and engagement,” said Nick Sharp, VP and General Manager EMEA and Australasia, WebTrends. WebTrends updated its On Demand software to track and report on Google Android in its reports on Oct. 30, the day of the platform’s release in Europe.

Glu Mobile announced the global launch of “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa”, a mobile game based on the DreamWorks Animation SKG animated film, which opens in U.S. theaters on November 7. The film is the sequel to the studio’s 2005 hit “Madagascar,” and is the first title Glu has developed and published with DreamWorks Animation, according to the company.

“The Glu team has worked hard to bring ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ to life in a mobile game that retains elements of the movie, but has a unique storyline and game mission unto itself,” said Jill Braff, senior vice president of global publishing, Glu. “We’ve had a great experience in working with the team at DreamWorks Animation to extend this hugely popular property to the mobile platform.”
In the game, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo all return to action in their latest outing. The zoo-raised crew is not quite at one with nature as they find themselves in the wildest place of all - Africa. Gamers roar into action playing as both Alex the lion and Marty the zebra charting a course for a side-scrolling African adventure.
